2017 ➳ Foresights and TBR

(Okay, so you may be wondering why I’m publishing this now, almost four months into 2017. In truth, I wrote this in the beginning of 2017, and – in typical Anna fashion – promptly forgot about it. I recently found it while going through old drafts, and decided to publish it to keep myself accountable. So… here we are! Better late than never?)

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

In terms of reading, 2016 was a pretty good year for me! But, looking back on 2016, there are things I wish I’d done differently, and things I want to change in 2017. So, I’ve made this post to share with you my upcoming goals for the year as a whole.

A forenote:

As much as I wish I could be one of those people who is able to read 100+ books in a year, I’m a IMG_20170325_214016_659busy girl! For the first half of 2016, I zoomed through my reading challenge (could you believe that at one point, I was 10 books ahead in my Goodreads goal of 70 books?). But, as the year went on and I got busier, I just had less time to read. As a result, I pushed myself toward short books, and aimed for quantity over quality.

That’s why, in 2017, I’m setting my Goodreads goal to 30 books (roughly 3 per month?). I’m about 99% certain that I will be able to achieve that and beyond, but rather than set myself a way-too-hopeful goal, I want to leave myself time to read without the intimidation of time.

I also have a completely new goal for myself: read more diversely. I’m aiming for at least one-two out of three per month–although hopefully, I’ll do even better than that.

Now, as for the specific books I would love to get to:

(These are the books that have been sitting on my shelf for wayyyy too long…)

  • Glass Sword by Victoria AveyardIMG_20170305_220330_575
  • Wintersong by S. Jae Jones
  • A Gathering of Shadows by V. E. Schwab
  • The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken
  • The Star-Touched Queen by Roshani Chokshi
  • Truthwitch by Susan Dennard
  • Clockwork Prince & Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare
  • Caraval by Stephanie Garber (I’ve actually read this! Yay!)

And upcoming releases!

(I’m keeping this short – I’ll be doing a separate post with more anticipated reads)

  • We Are Okay by Nina Lacour (I’ve also read this one – and loved it. ❤ )
  • Always and Forever Lara Jean by Jenny Han
  • A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas
  • Once and For All by Sarah Dessen
  • Our Dark Duet by Victoria Schwab

Aaaand that’s it! Thank you all for indulging me despite being a few months late, and I hope you’ve enjoyed my little look at the upcoming year. 🙂

xoxo,

Anna

TRUTHWITCH AHHHHH. It’s definitely a love it or hate it book, I think, and I absolutely adored it. Windwitch suffered from sequel blues, though :/

THE SHADES OF MAGIC SERIES HAS BEEN ON MY TBR FOR LITERALLY EVER. I definitely need to push myself to get into it.

Ooooh, Wintersong. I thought the writing was gorgeous, and the plot was interesting, but Liesl…….gahhhh. I wanted to strangle her for 90% of the book. XD Hopefully, you like her a little bit more.

We Are Okay has also been added to my TBR of late! I’m fifth in queue at the library, and I’m quite excited to get it. Some other books I definitely want to read this year are Resistance by Jaye L. Knight, Give Me a Fast Ship by Tim McGrath, and Caraval by Stephanie Garber.
